Our client recognised that its current data management practice was in need of review for business critical and safety documents. Venture was instructed by the client to conduct an information audit against both general good practice and the client's own specific operational code of conduct for the well engineering function. Substantial problems had been suggested during incident reviews and governance gap assessment.
Through this process, a comprehensive picture of strengths and weaknesses, compliance, workflows and interfaces between the teams and locations, systems and backups was created.
The work identified a number of areas of risk, both commercial and safety-orientated. A range of options was presented to tackle these, considering both "quick wins" and longer-term recommendations, and allowing the client to assess both minimal and comprehensive solutions and their individual benefits to the business.
Wherever possible, Venture's recommendations were aligned with the client's wider activities and plans for improving general information management processes and systems. The opportunity was taken to explore improving the wider asset staff approach to information and knowledge management.
