Venture evaluated all data acquired in recently drilled wells for a leading Major, cross-referencing it with data previously submitted to CDA. This enabled omitted data to be identified and dispatched, ensuring that our client met its licence commitments
Background
A two phased approach was developed:
Phase I – Identification of any digital log data not already supplied to CDA for released wells - the missing data to be supplied under the CDA Well Log Amnesty.
Phase II –Identification of all subsurface well data (digital logs and hardcopy – logs at both 1:500 and 1:200 scales and reports) for non-released wells - the data required to be submitted to CDA to enable the company to meet its DTI obligations.
As a result of company mergers, it was necessary to access a number of databases and indexes to identify the required data and to manage a high level of duplication between the sources.
Outcome
Phase I – 40 digital logs identified for supply to CDA.
Phase II – approximately 1,000 items identified for dispatch to CDA.
