To help our client manage its data and reduce shutdown time for a major facilities build in North Africa, we were engaged to manage the transfer of data from their engineering contractors, into eWarehouse, our clients engineering data store

Background

Our clients EPC and its suppliers deliver data in a variety of formats including Excel, Notepad and Access.
To help to ensure the quality and completeness of the data, a document was created that specified data types and associated data fields and data formats.
Using our ability to tease and cajole data from suppliers and partners alike and backed up with our data manipulation skills (SQL, Access, Excel etc.) we have built and populated a staging database. Quality, completeness and integrity checks have been run against this staging database, prior to the data being transferred into eWarehouse.

Outcome

Our work has delivered process and technology to collect, quality assure and transfer data regardless of format, into eWarehouse.
Whilst data take-on will not complete until 2004, our work is delivering a complete, quality assured data set for the client. This will be maintainable for the life of the gas plant. The data is available over the internet and can therefore be accessed at site, providing real-time data when it is needed. This will result in considerable reductions in time and costs for plant shutdowns and maintenance.
