Smartview Evaluation

A component of our client's work is to design and plan seismic surveys. An application was required to view satellite images and geographical data. Venture analysed workflows and assessed a relevant application for impact on our client's needs

Background

GeoQuest’s Smartview was assessed against how it would impact our clients business goal of achieving accurate and efficient seismic survey planning. Smartview is a combination of the ESRI application ‘Arcview’ and extra Geoquest functionality that allows interaction with the Finder database.
The evaluation involved the following steps:
Step 1: Gathering of information on the workflows that Smartview would impact. This information was documented as step-by-step tasks. The impact of the application was later assessed against each of these steps.
Step 2: Gaining a detailed understanding of the application. Notes were made on the positive and negative aspects of the product; including where the workflow or task would need to change in order to accommodate the new product.
Step 3: Assigning a score against each step of the workflow. This was achieved with the assistance of relevant members of the clients staff.
Step 4: Production of an evaluation report. This stated the findings of the evaluation and showed how the product would impact our clients seismic planning process.

Outcome

The evaluation process enabled the client to make an informed decision on whether to employ Smartview in helping it to achieve its business of goal of delivering accurate seismic plans efficiently.
