Venture to Host Workshop at IQPC Knowledge and Information for Oil and Gas Conference

Venture will be hosting a one-day workshop entitled ‘Recognising, measuring and achieving value from data management' as part of an industry conference Knowledge and Information Management for Oil and Gas to be held in Aberdeen on July 1st - 2nd 2009.

Despite good information management being seen as providing competitive advantage to companies across many industries, many companies in the oil and gas industry have problems demonstrating the value of managing data and information properly. As a result they get caught in the cyclical trap of data cleanup and then data degradation.
The workshop will develop a comprehensive data management framework which will help to ensure that this cycle is broken. It will address:

• Common data management issues and challenges, and their impact on the business
• Why data management is important and the potential value, and benefits of good data management
• The components of a comprehensive data management framework and the important supporting elements 
• Building and sustaining a robust data management framework, what to avoid and applying best practice
• How to measure the progress of implementing a data management roadmap, including the use of surveys, maturity models, benefits management and assessing the performance of a company relative to others via benchmarking

In addition, Venture will be presenting a paper on improving critical information and ‘corporate memory' access, security and availability.
