Attendees will also gain an appreciation of the benefits and value of applying good data management practice, an essential part of gaining buy-in and commitment from the business and senior management.

  • Good information management is increasingly being seen as providing comp etitive advantage to companies across many industries, since wise business decisions depend on sound data and information. In effect, information management is an enabler of efficient business processes, which in turn creates business value.
  • However, many companies in the oil and gas industry have problems demonstrating the value of managing data and information properly. As a result many companies get caught in the cyclical trap of data cleanup and then data degradation.
  • This workshop will provide a practical guide to developing a comprehensive data management framework which will help to ensure that this cycle is broken. Using an interactive classroom format you will have the opportunity to learn from presentations, exercises and interactive discussions.

Topics that will be covered include:

  • Common data management issues and challenges, and their impact on the business.
  • Why data management is important and the potential value, and benefits of good data management.
  • What are the components of a comprehensive data management framework and the important elements that need to support the framework.
  • Building and sustaining a robust data management framework, what to avoid and how to apply best practice.
  • How to measure the progress of implementing a data management roadmap, including the use of surveys, maturity models, benefits management and assessing the performance of a company relative to others via benchmarking.
